Typing Numbers by Touch

Each finger takes the number directly above its top-row key, which means the reach is two rows rather than one and the temptation to look down is strongest here. Most typists never learn this row properly and fall back on the numeric keypad, which breaks the rhythm of mixed text and numbers. Learning it by touch pays for itself quickly in dates, prices, invoice numbers and code.

How Long Should You Practise?

Ten to fifteen minutes a day beats an hour once a week. Muscle memory is built by repetition spaced over days, so short daily sessions produce faster gains than long infrequent ones. Stop when accuracy starts dropping rather than pushing through, because practising mistakes teaches them just as effectively as practising correct movements.
